Church Resources

Gospel resources are a great way to bring meaning to your homeschool studies.

Gospel Principles

Using the Gospel Principles manual is a great way to provide a mini gospel lesson each day. It provides scripture resources, as well as questions for discussion. These lessons are simple enough for younger children (and can be simplified further, if needed), but can be taught at a deeper level for older children and adults.

The Proclamation on the Family

There are resources throughout the internet that give ideas on using The Proclamation to the Family as a teaching tool. This can be more than just a Family Home Evening discussion. Divide the Proclamation into paragraphs and make a lesson on each one. For a copy of The Proclamation, visit the official church website www.lds.org.

Scripture Mastery

Scripture memorization is excellent for language skills and gives children confidence. Use the seminary scripture mastery verses, or teach The Articles of Faith. Learn one a week, or one a month. Have the children practice writing down the scripture they are learning in their best handwriting. Copywork is a lost art, but it does improve handwriting skills tremedously (and it helps with spelling).

The School of Abraham

This site is listed elsewhere on my website as one of my family favorites. Imagine a free outline for using the gospel to homeschool your children! This site offers an immense number of helps & resources. Take your time looking through it all! www.schoolofabraham.com
